Engineering a Multi-Screen, Multi-Space Conference at the Hyatt

Project Brief

US Based client Pearson Technology engaged us to deliver full production support for Kaseya DattoCon at the Hyatt Regency Sydney — the second year running. This year, they arrived with a detailed design concept, and our task was to bring it to life exactly as envisioned while working within the venue’s structural and technical constraints.

Challenges & Approach

The most significant challenge was rigging the large custom projection surfaces precisely where the design required them. These positions fell outside the venue’s standard rigging points, demanding creative engineering, advanced load planning, and a deep understanding of the Hyatt’s rigging grid. Achieving the exact stage look meant extreme precision not only in screen placement but also in positioning the heavy projectors responsible for driving the content.

Another unique requirement was the CEO’s request for six separate comfort monitor locations, allowing him to see his content from any angle on stage. Combined with large delay screens spanning the length of the room, the show required a total of 13 content screens. We also delivered extensive production setups across multiple breakout rooms and the expo area, ensuring a consistent and high-quality experience throughout the entire conference footprint.

Outcome

The result was a technically complex but flawlessly delivered conference for up to 900 delegates. By solving challenging rigging requirements, managing a large multi-screen system, and supporting all breakout and expo spaces, we helped Pearson Technology achieve the exact design vision their US client expected — all while maintaining reliability, precision, and a premium finish.
