Ultra Wide Projection at the Hyatt Regency

FF26 was designed as an interactive conference experience that would stand apart from a conventional corporate event. Working with K&M Events, Live Productions provided full event production across the conference and dinner program in two large ballroom spaces at the Hyatt Reency Sydney.

The scope included technical design, staging, projection, audio, lighting and onsite technical direction and show calling. A key feature was an ultra-wide 31.5-metre by 3-metre projection wall, designed to create a strong visual backdrop while keeping the audience closely connected to the stage.

Challenges & Approach

‍

The central design challenge was creating a 31.5-metre-wide by 3-metre-high projection canvas while maintaining effective sightlines, stage positioning and lighting coverage. Available rigging points and venue requirements also had to be factored into the technical design.

As the scope and budget evolved, the design was redrawn several times. Detailed CAD planning helped the team test each version, coordinate projection and lighting, and develop an installation plan that could be delivered within the available setup window. The final approach retained the scale and impact of the original concept while focusing the investment on the parts of the event that mattered most to the client and their audience.

An important element for the client was the ability for the audience to interact and be part of the show, we helped support this vision technically with a custom AI server setup to collect audience participation and display it accross the large projection surface.

Outcome

‍

The completed production gave FF26 a distinctive visual identity, led by the ultra-wide blended projection wall and an audience-focused stage layout with the familiar green stage. The conference took place in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency, and the dinner took place accross the hallway in the Maritime ballroom. With a distictly different setup for each space delivered seamlesly despite overlapping timelines.

Feedback from the event team and end client was very positive, and they were already thinking about how they could go bigger and better for next year!
